“It Was Magic”: The Undertaker & Shawn Michaels Relive Their Iconic WrestleMania 25 Showdown
April 13, 2025: More than a decade after their epic clash at WrestleMania 25, two of WWE’s most iconic legends—The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels—have reunited to revisit what fans still hail as one of the greatest matches in professional wrestling history.
Appearing together on WWE’s official YouTube channel, The Deadman and The Heartbreak Kid watched back their legendary encounter, offering raw and candid reflections on the night that left fans stunned and standing.
While their WrestleMania 26 rematch had the high-stakes stipulation of a career-ending loss, WrestleMania 25 was different—pure wrestling artistry, with no gimmicks, just two legends in their element.
“We had a history of unbelievable chemistry,” said The Undertaker. “And I don’t think we ever had a bad match.” Michaels nodded in agreement, recalling, “From the very first moment in the ring with you, I thought, ‘This is going to be a piece of cake… and enjoyable.’”
Both wrestlers spoke about the mutual respect that underpinned their fierce rivalry. As they rewatched their match, they were quick to acknowledge and even apologize for their minor slip-ups—proof of their perfectionist mindsets even in retirement.
“There was a friendship and respect there, which many won’t experience in their life—especially in this business,” Shawn said, visibly emotional.
The Undertaker and Michaels traded breathtaking finishers throughout the 30+ minute war, culminating in one final Tombstone Piledriver that sealed Shawn’s fate and marked a milestone in WrestleMania legacy.
Sixteen years later, the WrestleMania legacy continues. WrestleMania 41 will rock Las Vegas on April 19 and 20, headlined by Cody Rhodes vs John Cena for the WWE Championship and a triple-threat clash featuring Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and CM Punk.
