Delhi Capitals skipper KL Rahul smashes unbeaten 112*, surpasses Virat Kohli’s record to become fastest Indian to 8,000 T20 runs in IPL 2025 clash

Delhi Capitals batter and captain KL Rahul etched his name in the record books on Sunday as he became the fastest Indian to reach 8,000 runs in T20 cricket, achieving the feat during his brilliant unbeaten century against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025.
Rahul’s blistering knock of 112 off 65 balls* lit up the Arun Jaitley Stadium as he smashed 14 fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 172.31. This marked his fifth IPL century and seventh overall in T20 cricket, tying him with Abhishek Sharma for the joint-fifth most centuries in the format.
Globally, Chris Gayle leads the T20 century tally with 22, followed by Virat Kohli, who holds the IPL record with eight centuries.
In IPL 2025 so far, Rahul has amassed 493 runs in 11 matches, averaging 61.62 with a strike rate of over 148, including one century and three fifties.
With his latest milestone, Rahul crossed 8,081 T20 runs in 237 matches and 224 innings, at an impressive average of 42.53. He now becomes the third-fastest player globally and fastest Indian to reach the mark — achieving it in 224 innings, surpassing Virat Kohli (243). Only Chris Gayle (213) and Babar Azam (218) have reached the milestone quicker.
