Lando Norris Triumphs in Wet-Dry Thriller at British GP as Hulkenberg Shocks with First-Ever Podium
Silverstone, July 8, 2025 — Lando Norris lit up his home crowd with a thrilling victory at the British Grand Prix 2025, navigating ever-changing weather to claim his eighth career win and first at Silverstone. McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri followed him home in P2, while Nico Hulkenberg delivered a dream drive from P19 to P3 — securing his maiden F1 podium after 239 starts.

Starting dry, the race quickly turned chaotic as rain swept through the circuit early on. Max Verstappen, who began from pole, lost grip — both figuratively and literally — after a fierce early battle with Piastri. The Australian took the lead just before conditions worsened, with the Safety Car making multiple appearances throughout the afternoon.
The decisive moment came when Piastri was handed a 10-second penalty for excessive slowing during a Safety Car restart. Serving it during his pit stop, Norris inherited the lead and never looked back, ultimately finishing 6.812s ahead of his teammate.

Behind the McLaren duo, the biggest celebration belonged to Nico Hulkenberg, who fended off Lewis Hamilton in the closing stages to grab an emotional third-place finish. Starting 19th for Kick Sauber, Hulkenberg held his nerve and delivered a drive for the ages.

The mixed weather created carnage across the grid:
Charles Leclerc endured a nightmare, finishing P14 after gambling on slicks too early. Home favorite Ollie Bearman just missed out on points in P11, despite strong pace.
The result breathes new life into the championship, especially for McLaren, whose 1-2 finish puts them back in serious contention. For Norris, the victory marked a full-circle moment at Silverstone. For Hulkenberg, it was a long-awaited reward for years of perseverance.
