March 26, 2025: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced an exciting new partnership with Premier League champions Manchester City to establish a sports school in the state. This collaboration aims to enhance Bengal’s growing sports ecosystem, reflecting the state’s deep passion for sports and its rising prominence in the field.
Last September, Manchester City, in partnership with Techno India Group, revealed the launch of the first-ever Manchester City Football School in India, situated in Kolkata, the home city of Techno India Group. The school will offer a unique football education program inspired by the world-class coaching philosophy of Manchester City, who have been crowned Premier League champions for the fourth consecutive season.

The football school in Kolkata will benefit from the expertise of official Manchester City coaches, who will relocate from Manchester to deliver specialized training to students, ensuring they receive a bespoke program tailored to their development. The presence of fully trained, full-time coaches will guarantee a first-class educational experience for young footballers in the region.
Jorgina Busquets, Managing Director of Football Education, Recreation, and Partner Clubs at City Football Group, expressed her excitement about the venture, stating, “We are delighted to be opening our first Manchester City Football School in Kolkata with Techno India Group.” She emphasized the school’s approach, which will mirror the methodology used in Manchester, while adapting to the level of each player.
Debdut Roychowdury, Director of Techno India Group, also shared his enthusiasm, saying, “It is with immense pride and excitement that we join forces with Manchester City Football to bring their renowned football training expertise to the heart of Indian football, West Bengal.”
This collaboration signifies a major step forward in nurturing local football talent and expanding the sport’s reach in India, particularly in West Bengal.
