Mary Kom Reportedly Living Separately from Husband Onler After Rs 2–3 Crore Election Loss

Indian boxing icon Mary Kom has allegedly parted ways with husband Onler following financial strain and personal differences post his electoral defeat.

April 9, 2025: Indian boxing legend Mary Kom is reportedly going through a rough patch in her personal life, as she and husband Karung Onkholer (Onler) are said to be living separately. Sources suggest the couple’s relationship soured after a significant financial loss of ₹2–3 crore incurred during Onler’s unsuccessful 2022 Manipur Assembly election campaign.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, Mary has moved to their Faridabad residence with their four children, while Onler currently resides in Delhi. The report quotes a source close to the family, saying, “Their differences escalated after the elections. Mary was reportedly unhappy about the campaign losses and Onler’s defeat.”

Interestingly, the report claims Onler was initially reluctant to contest the elections, warning Mary about the volatile political climate in Manipur. However, he ultimately agreed, allegedly under her insistence.

“It was Mary’s idea. Onler didn’t want to run but went ahead because she encouraged him. After the loss, their disagreements turned serious,” the source revealed.

The situation appears to have taken an emotional toll on Onler. He had given up his football career early on to support Mary’s boxing ambitions and take care of the family. Now, being separated from his children has reportedly left him heartbroken.

Adding to the speculation, an unnamed boxer hinted at a possible new relationship in Mary’s life, alleging she may be romantically linked with another boxer’s husband, who now features in her business-related social media posts. While these claims remain unconfirmed, they have intensified the buzz around Mary and Onler’s reported separation.

Despite growing rumours, neither Mary Kom nor Onler has made any official statements regarding their marital status or personal differences.
