Mitchell Santner Praises Team Performance After New Zealand’s Six-Wicket Win Over South Africa

February 11, 2025: New Zealand registered a commanding six-wicket victory over South Africa at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Monday, continuing their strong run in the ongoing ODI Tri-Series 2025. The Kiwis successfully chased down the target, showcasing their all-round performance and deep team synergy.

South Africa had set a competitive target, but New Zealand’s chase was guided by clinical batting performances, with contributions from different players. Devon Conway played a crucial role, building a key partnership with captain Kane Williamson, which propelled the Kiwis closer to their goal. Despite South Africa’s valiant effort, New Zealand’s batting depth and strategic partnerships helped them secure a comfortable victory.

New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, highlighting the importance of contributions from various players. He stressed how key partnerships were essential, especially on flat wickets where the fielding side must work hard to break partnerships. “I think you wanna win but different guys performing is pleasing for the squad, and we have another big game in a few days’ time in Karachi,” Santner said after the match.

He added, “I guess we pride ourselves on fielding, especially in the middle overs on flat wickets where there are partnerships. It was an outstanding knock from Conway and that partnership between him and Kane.”

With this victory, New Zealand continues to top the standings in the tri-series, showcasing their balance between the bat and ball as they head into their next match in Karachi.
