February 15, 2025: Former India cricketer Mithali Raj praised Richa Ghosh for her spectacular performance in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 season opener, where she helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secure a six-wicket win against Gujarat Giants (GG). Ghosh’s aggressive batting in the death overs was instrumental in RCB’s successful chase.
In the match, RCB was chasing a challenging total, and after losing Ellyse Perry, Ghosh, alongside Kanika Ahuja, took charge. Mithali Raj, speaking to JioHotstar, emphasized how Richa Ghosh provided excellent support to Ahuja during their partnership. Ghosh’s aggressive stroke play complemented Ahuja’s controlled batting, and the duo brought RCB closer to the target.

Mithali noted that even though Kanika Ahuja didn’t hit big shots, she maintained a high strike rate with well-placed boundaries, allowing Richa to play her natural attacking game. She praised both players, calling them “outstanding” for their contributions. Mithali highlighted that Richa Ghosh’s blinder was crucial for RCB’s victory, adding that the 21-year-old has proven her ability to deliver match-winning performances for India and now for RCB.

With this win, RCB began their WPL 2025 campaign on a high note, and both Richa and Kanika’s performances were key in stabilizing the team after early wickets.
