Mohammed Siraj talks about his special relationship with Shubman Gill
August 26 in New Delhi: Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has talked about the special affinity he has with Test skipper Shubman Gill. This bond goes beyond cricket and has grown throughout the years they have played together.
In an honest chat with journalist Boria Majumdar on Revsportz, Siraj talked about their journey: “Shubman and I have been together for a long time.” We played India A together and hung together off the field too. We both played our first Test matches at the MCG, and we both became World No. 1 in ODIs at the same time. There are a lot of memories. He is also the captain of the Gujarat Titans. We converse and hit the ball together in the nets. I constantly reminding him that he is my rabbit! We get along really well, and that shows on the pitch. We both know what we want. I’m quite proud of how he has grown as a captain. I really hope he brings the trophy home now that he is the vice-captain of the Asia Cup. Wish him and the team all the best.
Siraj’s statements show how well the two players get along off the field, which has been clear in India’s previous games.
Shubman Gill: A Modern Batting Genius
Gill’s ascension to become one of India’s most reliable batters has been nothing short of amazing. His adventures in England made headlines, and his strong technique and willingness to adapt helped him make history.
With 754 runs at an average of 75.40 throughout the series, he became India’s new batting star.
He got more time against quick bowlers by making small changes to his technique, such moving the bat in front of the pads and making his footwork sharper.
These changes helped him score four great centuries in England, putting to rest any doubts about his ability to play well abroad.
The best part of his tour of England was at Edgbaston, where Gill’s career-best 269-run marathon innings helped India win their first Test match there, a place where legends before him had trouble.
Shubman Gill: The Next Era’s Leader
Gill, who was captain for the first time in a Test match, led India to a remarkable 2-2 draw against England, showing maturity and tactical skill. In October 2025, he will have to lead India in a two-Test home series against the West Indies. This will be another test of his leadership skills.
Gill is the vice-captain of the Asia Cup team, and the World Test Championship cycle is already underway. The partnership between Gill and Siraj, which is based on trust, friendship, and years of shared experiences, is sure to be one of the most important parts of India’s cricketing future.
