Mumbai Indians Owner Akash Ambani Heaps Praises On Trent Boult

November 26, 2024: Mumbai Indians owner Akash Ambani expressed his excitement about the return of New Zealand pacer Trent Boult to the franchise, following his acquisition for Rs 12.50 crore at the IPL 2025 mega-auction. Boult, who has been a key figure in MI’s success in previous seasons, was praised by Ambani for the invaluable skill he brings, particularly his ability to bowl with the new ball and swing it early in the innings.

Boult, who has played 104 IPL matches and taken 121 wickets, had a significant role in Mumbai Indians’ IPL campaigns from 2020 to 2021. The Kiwi pacer’s sharp skills with the new ball and his knack for breaking partnerships early were instrumental in MI’s successes during those years. Boult has since played for Rajasthan Royals but will now return to the Mumbai-based franchise, much to the delight of Akash Ambani and the MI management.

Akash Ambani highlighted the importance of Boult’s role in the team. “Boulty and Topley, we wanted because they both are left-arm seamers, there is a point of difference for us. Of course, we’ve seen Trent in Mumbai Indians before, he adds an invaluable skill by taking that new ball and swinging it,” Ambani said. He further added, “We’ve been hurt by him the last couple of years when he has not played for us,” acknowledging that Boult’s absence had been a setback for MI in recent seasons.

Boult’s return is expected to provide Mumbai Indians with a significant edge, especially at the start of innings, where his ability to swing the new ball has often been a game-changer. Ambani’s comments reflect the franchise’s confidence in Boult’s skill set and his potential to make a big impact in IPL 2025, helping strengthen MI’s pace attack.
