Nat Sciver-Brunt Wins MVP And Orange Cap As Mumbai Indians Clinch WPL Title

March 6, 2025: England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt capped off an incredible season in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) by winning both the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award and the Orange Cap. Her exceptional all-round performance saw her amass a staggering 523 runs and take 12 wickets, helping her team, Mumbai Indians, claim victory in the tournament.

In a post-match presentation, Sciver-Brunt expressed her delight at being named MVP, reflecting on what had been a thrilling season for her personally. “So pleased. It’s been a great year for me in the WPL, coming on the back of a lot of cricket. I’m so happy to be standing here as a winner,” she shared with the audience.

However, Sciver-Brunt, known for her grounded attitude, was quick to acknowledge the unpredictable nature of cricket. “I will ride the highs whilst I can, and there are some lows around the corner—that’s cricket, I guess,” she said, maintaining a humble perspective despite her achievements.

She also credited her team’s performance, highlighting the depth and world-class talent within the squad. “We have a great amount of all-rounders in our team and some world-class players who can stand up at any point in time. I feel very lucky to be part of that team,” she said.

Beyond individual accolades, the England star emphasized the emotional connection she has with her franchise. “It’s so special to be part of a franchise that has become family. It has been amazing, and we are really, really happy,” Sciver-Brunt added, showcasing her close bond with the Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai Indians secured their second WPL title in a thrilling final at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. The team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, defended a modest total of 150 runs, defeating Delhi Capitals by 8 runs in what was a nail-biting conclusion. Despite a determined effort from Niki Prasad, who remained unbeaten on 25, Delhi Capitals fell short in their chase and lost their third consecutive WPL final.

For Sciver-Brunt, the win capped an unforgettable tournament, cementing her as one of the standout performers in the history of the competition. With her all-around brilliance, the Mumbai Indians were crowned champions, and Sciver-Brunt’s incredible run will be remembered for years to come.
