Nitish Kumar Reddy Hails Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharm and Virat Kohli as 'Golden Assets' To Indian Cricket
April 3, 2025: Sunrisers Hyderabad’s rising all-rounder, Nitish Kumar Reddy, has expressed his eagerness to face India’s premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Reddy, who has made a name for himself with his explosive batting and all-round capabilities, spoke about his excitement to challenge Bumrah, one of the best bowlers in world cricket, on Jio Hotstar.
Nitish’s rise to stardom came after his blistering century against India during the Boxing Day Test at the iconic MCG at the end of last year. The knock was a standout performance in front of a sold-out crowd, and since then, his popularity has skyrocketed. As he looks to make an impact with his belligerent batting in IPL 2025, Reddy has his eyes set on the challenge of facing Bumrah, a bowler he regards as one of the toughest in the world.
“I would be grateful for the challenge. He is one of the best bowlers in the world right now, and facing him would be an exciting contest. If I manage to score some runs against him, I will be very happy. Competing against top bowlers like Bumrah is what makes the game exciting,” said Nitish on JioHotstar.
The 21-year-old is establishing himself as an all-round prospect capable of contributing with both bat and ball. His performances in IPL 2025 are drawing attention, and he continues to grow as a player. Nitish, who idolizes Indian cricketing greats, feels inspired by the current generation of Indian players, particularly Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Bumrah, calling them the “golden assets” of the nation.
“This generation of Indian cricket has been shaped by legends like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and others. They have taken Indian cricket to new heights, and we aspire to carry forward their legacy. Players like Jasprit, Rohit, and Virat are truly golden assets to India,” Reddy added.
In addition to expressing admiration for his peers, Nitish revealed his desire to learn from the best in the game. He admires MS Dhoni’s leadership qualities and aggression, Virat Kohli’s passion for the game, and Rohit Sharma’s extraordinary pull shot.
“From Dhoni, I would love to have his captaincy skills. I admire Kohli’s aggression and passion for the game. And from Rohit, I would love to master his pull shot–it’s simply outstanding,” said Reddy.
As the IPL 2025 progresses, all eyes will be on this young talent as he continues to develop his game, aiming to prove himself against the best in the world.
