July 21, 2025: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) anticipates suffering a significant financial setback because of the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the Asia Cup T20 tournament’s future. One The PCB has projected that it will receive 8.8 billion Pakistani Rupees (PKR) in profits from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) during the current fiscal year.
The 2025 Asia Cup, which is scheduled for September and will be hosted by India under the T20 format, is currently unknown. The primary reasons for this uncertainty are the heightened political tensions between India and Pakistan and the BCCI’s concerns with the proposed Dhaka venue for the ACC Annual General Meeting.
According to reports, India is hesitant to visit Bangladesh because of the current circumstances and has even threatened to abstain from any resolutions that are taken if the meeting is held there.
Significant income losses for the PCB could result from the Asia Cup’s likely cancellation, postponement, or withdrawal by India. A substantial amount of the PCB’s anticipated earnings is linked to ICC and ACC payouts, with an estimated PKR 1.16 billion especially hoped to be generated from the Asia Cup, despite the organization’s overall fiscal year budget of about PKR 18.8 billion.
