Lahore Qalandars Take Action Amid Protocol Violation
March 31, 2026: Shaheen Shah Afridi has been fined PKR 1 million by Lahore Qalandars following a controversy over alleged violation of hotel security protocols during Pakistan Super League 2026. The action came after a complaint by Punjab Police, which accused Afridi and teammate Sikandar Raza of escorting unauthorized visitors to players’ rooms, bypassing established safety guidelines.
The franchise described the episode as a “misunderstanding” but stressed that discipline and compliance with protocols are non-negotiable. According to reports, four visitors were brought to the players’ floor and stayed for a period disputed by both sides. While Afridi has been penalized, no formal action has yet been taken against Raza.
Breaking his silence, Raza defended his captain and took full responsibility, stating that the visitors were his long-time friends and family. He clarified that Afridi had only assisted at his request and denied claims of forceful entry or prolonged stay. The incident has also put pressure on Mohsin Naqvi, as the Pakistan Cricket Board looks to enforce stricter discipline amid ongoing security concerns.
