February 15, 2025: Priyansh Arya, the blazing young batter and Punjab Kings’ newest addition, is all set to make his IPL debut in the upcoming 2025 season. Arya, who has been playing cricket since the age of 9, was picked by the Kings in the 2025 mega auction and is eager to play his first-ever IPL season.

“I am really excited to meet head coach Ricky Ponting. I love his pull shot. Apart from that, I am also excited to meet Shreyas Iyer. I love his attitude and the way he walks. I have never met Shreyas earlier, but I think he is a great leader. He has won the IPL and all domestic trophies as a captain, so I feel he is the best leader,” the 24-year-old opening batter shared in a release from Punjab Kings.

Arya made headlines in August 2024 when he hit six sixes in an over during Delhi’s domestic T20 league, becoming only the fourth Indian cricketer to do so. Reflecting on the moment, Arya shared a motivational story: “After three sixes, I believed I could hit six sixes as well, as my partner Ayush Badoni was hitting four to five sixes in an over, in every match. After I did so, Suryakumar Yadav messaged me, saying my batting was total entertainment and to keep believing in myself. It was quite motivating.”

Ahead of IPL season 17, Arya was hopeful but went unsold in the initial auctions. Undeterred, he continued working on his game, playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 matches. His perseverance paid off when Punjab Kings picked him in the 2025 auction. “I felt bad about not being selected last year. This year, I was focused on Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 matches. After I was picked by Punjab Kings, I was elated, but I couldn’t celebrate much because I was focused on the tournaments. I will surely celebrate soon,” Arya said.
