Quartararo Flies to Assen Pole—By Just 0.028s!
June 29, 2025: Fabio Quartararo once again proved he’s the king of qualifying, delivering a breathtaking lap at the TT Circuit Assen to clinch pole for the 2025 MotoGP Dutch Grand Prix. The Yamaha rider clocked a stunning 1:30.651 to edge out Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia by a razor-thin margin of 0.028 seconds. Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing) completed the front row, pushing brother Marc Marquez off the top three for only the second time this season.
Q2 saw high drama early on, with Ai Ogura crashing at Turn 8 and rushing back to switch bikes. His teammate Raul Fernandez briefly led the session before rookie Fermin Aldeguer made a late surge to top Q1 and progress to Q2 alongside Fernandez.

The pole battle escalated quickly. Bagnaia looked strong, leading with a 1:31.059, before Quartararo laid down the weekend’s first sub-1:31 lap. Alex Marquez then went even faster with a 1:30.811—only to be outdone moments later by Quartararo’s pole-sealing lap. Pecco improved too, enough to slot into second and relegate Marquez to third.
Marc Marquez, despite pushing hard, will start from P4 alongside Marco Bezzecchi and Franco Morbidelli on Row 2. Rookie sensation Aldeguer will line up in P7, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio and KTM’s Pedro Acosta.
With Quartararo hitting his 20th career pole with Yamaha—joining elite company like Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo—Sunday’s race promises fireworks. Catch the Motul Grand Prix of the Netherlands live on Eurosport!
