Franchise backs pacer despite absence, confirms continued support
March 24, 2026: Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have suffered a setback ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026 season, with fast bowler Yash Dayal ruled out of the tournament due to personal reasons. His absence from training sessions and team promotions had already triggered speculation, which was later confirmed by the franchise management.
RCB’s director of cricket Mo Bobat clarified that while Dayal will not join the squad, he remains under contract and continues to receive full support from the team. The management has been in regular contact with the player and decided that skipping the tournament is in the best interest of both the cricketer and the franchise. Despite his absence, RCB has reiterated its commitment to stand by him during this difficult phase.
Dayal has recently been in the spotlight due to personal controversies, including legal allegations filed in 2025. Meanwhile, RCB will kick off their IPL 2026 campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 28 at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, as they aim to defend their title without one of their key bowlers.
