Rohit Sharma Gears Up For Champions Trophy, Unleashes Flurry Of Signature Shots In Nets

January 17, 2025: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has begun preparing for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, sharing a video on Instagram showcasing his practice session in the nets. After a challenging Test season, Rohit’s focus is now on regaining his touch for the limited-overs format.

In the video, he demonstrated his trademark shots, including flicks, drives, lofted hits, and his signature pull shot— a shot that has been instrumental in his success across formats.

While Rohit’s recent Test performances have raised concerns, with a disappointing run in the 2024-25 Test season, where he accumulated only 164 runs from 15 innings at an average of 10.93, his white-ball credentials remain undeniable. His Test season included a solitary half-century against Bangladesh and a series of losses, including India’s first-ever whitewash at home against New Zealand.

However, his form in limited-overs cricket has been outstanding. As captain, Rohit led India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup, scoring 378 runs in 11 matches at an average of 42.00 and a strike rate of 160.16, including a century and three half-centuries. His performances in ODIs have also been impressive, with 1,412 runs in 30 matches since 2023 at an average of 52.29 and a strike rate of 119.35.

Rohit’s brilliant ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign, where he scored 597 runs, including a century and three half-centuries, further highlighted his readiness for major international tournaments. With the Champions Trophy approaching, all eyes are on Rohit as he looks to lead India to success and regain his top form.
