Who Will Be India’s Next ODI Captain?
The report suggests that Hardik Pandya or Shubman Gill could take over as India’s next ODI captain, ushering in a new era for Indian cricket.
🔹 If India wins, Rohit may continue as a player while a younger leader is groomed.
🔹 If India loses, a complete transition could take place, with Rohit stepping away from ODIs.
With India’s next major ODI tournament, the 2027 World Cup, still two years away, BCCI could opt for a leadership change sooner rather than later.
Sunil Gavaskar’s Take on Rohit’s Performance
Legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has been vocal about Rohit’s recent batting approach, urging him to focus on longer innings rather than just explosive starts.
🗣️ “If Rohit bats for 25 overs, India will be around 180-200. Just think what they could do after that! They could reach 350 or more,” Gavaskar told India Today.
Despite being a game-changer as an opener, Rohit has struggled for big scores in the tournament, with a highest score of 41 against Bangladesh. His other scores include 20 vs Pakistan, 15 vs New Zealand, and 28 vs Australia.
