Rohit had previously given a subtle hint about the arrival of their second child with a playful reference to the sitcom Friends on November 15, sharing the caption “The FAMILY, the one where we are four.” Their first child, a daughter named Samaira, was born in 2018.

With the arrival of Ahaan, Rohit took a brief break from international cricket, missing the team’s travel to Perth ahead of the Border-Gavaskar series opener. Jasprit Bumrah stepped in as captain in his absence, leading India to an impressive 295-run victory. Rohit later rejoined the team for a pink-ball warm-up match in Canberra, where he batted at number four but made just three runs. He is expected to return to his regular opening position for the Adelaide Test starting December 6.
