Currently ranked 27th in the world, Satwik and Chirag dominated the quarter-final match, winning 21-17, 21-15 in just 39 minutes. They took early control in the first game and maintained the momentum to seal the match with authority. This victory marked their fourth win in six head-to-head encounters with the Malaysian top seeds.

Now, they face a stiff semi-final test against third-seeded and two-time Olympic bronze medallists Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, also of Malaysia.

The Indian pair has made a strong comeback after a two-month break due to illness and injury. Earlier in the tournament, they overcame a slow start to defeat Indonesia’s Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Muhammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, bouncing back from a 19-21 first-game loss to win 21-16, 21-19 in the next two games.

Meanwhile, India’s singles hopes suffered a blow with PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy both crashing out in the second round.

Sindhu, despite a strong second-game fightback, fell short against Olympic gold medallist Chen Yufei of China in a 65-minute thriller that ended 21-9, 18-21, 21-16. This was Sindhu’s seventh loss in 13 encounters against the world No. 5.

HS Prannoy also exited early, losing in straight games to France’s Christo Popov (21-16, 21-14). Ranked 34th, Prannoy couldn’t match the pace and precision of his 23rd-ranked opponent.

As the tournament heads into its final stages, all eyes remain on Satwik and Chirag to keep the Indian challenge alive.
