Saweety Boora Accuses Husband Deepak Hooda of Shocking Abuse Amid Divorce Row: “He Made Me…”
New Delhi, March 26, 2025 — Former world boxing champion Saweety Boora has leveled serious allegations against her husband, kabaddi player Deepak Niwas Hooda, amid an ongoing divorce case that has shocked sports fans across India. A video from a police station in Hisar, Haryana, went viral this week, showing Boora confronting and physically attacking Hooda, allegedly during a mediation session related to their separation.
The disturbing clip shows Boora lunging at Hooda, grabbing him by the neck while family members and police officers intervened. The incident reportedly occurred on March 15, days after Boora had lodged an FIR accusing Hooda of dowry harassment and physical abuse.
In a video statement shared afterward, Boora made stunning claims, stating, “I don’t want to talk about such things… but he has interests in boys. I’ve seen videos. I was shocked. I will prove everything in court… I can’t even talk about this with my parents, but he has made me do such things that I have no choice but to speak out now.”
Boora said she had hoped for a peaceful divorce but was forced to go public due to the gravity of her experiences.

Boora, who married Hooda in 2022, filed a complaint under Section 85 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with cruelty by a husband or his relatives. The complaint alleges physical violence, financial demands, and dowry abuse, including the demand for a luxury car.

Confirming the complaint, Seema, SHO of the women’s police station in Hisar, said, “An FIR was registered on February 25. We issued notices to Hooda multiple times, but he did not appear.”
In response, Hooda cited mental trauma and poor health for his absence, stating, “I’ve submitted medical documents and requested a new date. I won’t speak negatively about my wife publicly, but I haven’t been allowed to meet her.”
Deepak Hooda is a decorated kabaddi player and Arjuna Awardee, known for his performances in the Pro Kabaddi League, Asian Games (2014), and the 2016 South Asian Games. He also contested the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections from Meham as a BJP candidate but lost.
Boora, a well-known figure in Indian boxing, had previously held the world championship title and has represented India in numerous international tournaments.
As the legal case unfolds, the allegations and video footage have triggered national debate around domestic violence, mental health, and celebrity accountability in sports. The case is expected to proceed to court, where both sides will present their evidence.
