August 7, 2025: Report says that Shreyas Iyer, a star middle-order hitter, is about to return to the Indian T20I and Test teams. The cricketer last played a Test match in February 2024 and a T20I in December 2023. He is likely to be summoned back for the upcoming Asia Cup and the two-Test home series against the West Indies.
It seems that the people in charge want to bring back Iyer’s “class and experience” to the middle order. This was lost during a recent Test series in England. A source told the publication that Iyer’s skill at facing spin bowling will be very important, especially because the home Test season is coming up.
People have been discussing a lot about Iyer’s recent form. In the IPL 2025, he was the best player for the Punjab Kings, and in the Champions Trophy 2025, where he was a regular member of the ODI team, he scored the most runs.
