Singapore Open: Satwik-Chirag Enter Quarters After Epic Win, Prannoy Crashes Out
May 29, 2025: India’s top men’s doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty stormed into the quarterfinals of the Singapore Open 2024, rallying from a game down to defeat the Indonesian duo of Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani in a thrilling match on Thursday.

The Indian duo, seeded third in the tournament, showcased remarkable grit and resilience as they bounced back to win 19-21, 21-16, 21-19 in a fiercely contested battle that lasted 1 hour and 14 minutes.
The win is especially significant as Satwik and Chirag are returning to full form after a brief break due to fitness concerns. They will now face a stern challenge in the quarterfinals against the second-seeded Malaysian pair of Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin.
While the doubles team brought cheer, there was disappointment in the singles draw as H.S. Prannoy exited the tournament early. Prannoy lost 16-21, 14-21 to France’s Christo Popov in the pre-quarterfinals, marking an early end to his Singapore campaign.
India’s hopes now rest on the shoulders of the in-form Satwik-Chirag duo as they aim to continue their strong run and secure a spot in the semifinals.
