In a moment that defined his “Spiderman” persona, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant pulled off a breathtaking one-handed reflex catch to dismiss Liam Livingstone during their IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) this Sunday.
The stunning grab at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium instantly went viral, leaving fans and commentators in awe of Pant’s elite athleticism.
The incident occurred in the 8th over, as SRH attempted to rebuild after a disastrous Powerplay. Facing spinner Digvesh Rathi, Livingstone attempted a cheeky scoop to disrupt the field. Pant, anticipating a leg-side play, had already begun moving toward the stumps. However, the English all-rounder only managed a thick edge that flew toward the off-side. Showing incredible hang-time and spatial awareness, Pant reversed his momentum mid-air, lunging to his right to pluck the ball out of thin air with one hand.
SRH Top Order Collapses
The dismissal of Livingstone for just 14 runs left the home side reeling. Earlier, the Lucknow bowling attack, led by a resurgent Mohammed Shami, tore through the SRH top order. Shami’s double strike removed both Abhishek Sharma (0) and Travis Head (7) within the first three overs, while Prince Yadav sent Ishan Kishan back to the dugout cheaply.
The Rebuild
Despite the early carnage that saw SRH restricted to a historic low of 22 runs in the Powerplay, the middle order staged a gutsy fightback. Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy both slammed half-centuries, stitching together a crucial partnership to guide the Sunrisers past the 150-mark.
While Klaasen’s power-hitting provided the fireworks, it was Pant’s acrobatic brilliance behind the stumps that remained the talk of the town. The catch not only broke a budding partnership but served as a stark reminder of why the LSG skipper is considered one of the most dangerous and instinctive keepers in the world.
