Mumbai, August 24 – It was a moment of nostalgia, pride, and overwhelming gratitude as cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar stood before his newly unveiled life-size statue at the entrance of the MCA Sharad Pawar Cricket Museum inside Wankhede Stadium. For Sunil Gavaskar, words seemed too small to match the enormity of the honour. “I am at a loss for words because I am overwhelmed by this unique recognition. Not everyone gets a statue just outside a museum where thousands will walk past daily. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has always been like my mother — it held my hand when I was beginning my cricketing journey. To be blessed with such love and respect is beyond imagination,” said the batting maestro, his voice heavy with emotion.

The statue now proudly stands at the grand entrance of the Sharad Pawar Cricket Museum, an 8,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility dedicated to celebrating Mumbai’s unparalleled contribution to Indian and world cricket.
