India batters dominate charts ahead of T20 World Cup as SKY rises to seventh

January 28, 2026: India captain Suryakumar Yadav jumped five places to seventh in the latest ICC men’s T20I batting rankings on Wednesday after a strong showing in the ongoing five-match home series against New Zealand. With scores of 32, 82 not out and 57 not out, Suryakumar has been instrumental in India’s 3-0 series lead. India continue to dominate the rankings, with Abhishek Sharma holding the top spot and Tilak Varma placed third, underlining the team’s batting depth just days ahead of the T20 World Cup.

Several other Indian batters also made gains, with Ishan Kishan re-entering the rankings at 64th after a blistering 76 off 32 balls in Raipur. Shivam Dubey climbed nine places to 58th, while Rinku Singh surged 13 spots to 68th. In the bowling charts, Jasprit Bumrah rose four places to 13th, Ravi Bishnoi moved up to 19th, and Hardik Pandya made notable all-round progress, climbing to 59th among bowlers and third among all-rounders.

Globally, Afghanistan batters Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz advanced after their series win over the West Indies, while Mujeeb ur Rahman cracked the top 10 bowlers. South Africa’s Aiden Markram entered the top 20, and West Indies’ Brandon King and New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips also climbed the rankings. In ODIs, England batters Harry Brook and Joe Root made big strides following a series win in Sri Lanka, while Adil Rashid and Dunith Wellalage gained ground in the bowling rankings.
