Suryakumar Yadav Donates Entire Asia Cup Fees to Armed Forces and Pahalgam Victims

Team India Captain Suryakumar Yadav announced he will donate his entire Asia Cup match fees—estimated at ₹28 lakh—to the Indian Armed Forces and the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.

September 29, 2025: Indian cricket captain Suryakumar Yadav has declared that he will give all of his match fees from the Asia Cup to help the Indian Armed Forces and the families of the people who were hurt in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. This is a very kind gesture that transcends beyond the cricket field.

Suryakumar stated on X, “I have decided to give my match fees from this tournament to help our Armed Forces and the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.” You are always on my mind. “Jai Hind.”

Each T20 game, players from the Indian side get paid ₹4 lakh. The 35-year-old captain’s donation will be a lot of money, ₹28 lakh, because India played seven matches in the competition.

A Controversial Ending to a Successful Campaign

The donation came after an exciting final in which India beat Pakistan by five wickets to win the Asia Cup trophy. India had won all three of their matches against Pakistan during the tournament. But there was a lot of controversy after the game at the presentation ceremony.

The Indian team boycotted the trophy ceremony. They did not receive the Asia Cup trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, the chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), who was there as the acting head of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

A tense mood: The presentation ceremony was pushed back by approximately an hour because the Pakistan squad was late getting out of their locker room. The ceremony ended suddenly when commentator Simon Doull said that the Indian team would not be presenting the trophy on stage after the individual awards were given out.

No Handshakes: This was the most recent of many heated moments between the two sides during the competition. The Indian players had already refused to shake hands and say kind things to the Pakistani team, which is why the PCB asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) to step in.

Suryakumar Yadav’s offering is a strong act of kindness that distinguishes out from the diplomatic and sporting conflicts that marked the end of the competition.
