August 25, 2025: Before the Asia Cup, fantasy gaming company Dream11 told the BCCI that it will no longer be the title sponsor for the India cricket team. This is a big change. It is thought that the new “Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill,” which was recently passed by both houses of Parliament, is directly responsible for the decision.

An official from the BCCI said that Dream11 representatives went to the board’s office in Mumbai to tell them they were backing out of the arrangement. The BCCI is now in a hurry to find a new sponsor before the Asia Cup starts in the UAE on September 9. The team won’t be able to utilize their new jerseys with the Dream11 emblem during the competition anymore.

The move ends Dream11’s four-year pact early. The deal was worth ₹358 crores in 2023. The company’s choice comes at a time when the new online gambling law is likely to have a big effect on the business, with a flat 28% Goods and Services Tax (GST) and stiffer rules on advertising.

The BCCI is actively looking for a new sponsor, and rumors say that two corporations have already showed interest. “Toyota Motor Corporation and a Fintech start-up have both indicated interest so far. “However, the official tendering process has not started yet,” was told by an unnamed source.

Devajit Saikia, the secretary of the BCCI, said that the board would strictly follow the new law. “We won’t do anything if it’s not allowed.” “The BCCI will follow every rule that the central government makes for the country,” he stated.
