Gujarat’s Harvansh Pangalia slams unbeaten century as India U19 thrashes England Young Lions by 231 runs; IPL stars Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi flop in high-scoring clash.
Loughborough | June 25, 2025:
While India’s senior team stumbled to a 5-wicket loss in Leeds, the future of Indian cricket blazed bright in Loughborough. India’s U19 team decimated the England Young Lions with a jaw-dropping total of 442/6 in 50 overs, before sealing a commanding 231-run victory in the opening match of their tour.
And the star of the show? Not the IPL-hyped youngsters, but 18-year-old Harvansh Pangalia, son of a truck driver from Brampton, Canada, and a native of Gandhidham in Gujarat.
🌟 Pangalia’s Power-Packed Century
Harvansh, a wicketkeeper-batter, played the innings of his life, smashing 103 not out off just 52 balls, laced with 8 fours and 9 sixes. His explosive finish helped India push past the 400-run mark, setting a total rarely seen at this level of youth cricket.

The century was a proud moment for the Neelkanth Cricket Academy, where Harvansh trained under coach Nakul Ayachi, and a testament to his family’s sacrifices — especially his father, who drives a truck in Canada to support his son’s dream.
🏏 IPL Stars Fall Short
Despite the win, the two biggest names in the squad — Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, both IPL 2025 breakout players — failed to deliver.
- Captain Ayush Mhatre, who shone for Chennai Super Kings earlier this year, was dismissed for just 1 run.
- Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the 14-year-old prodigy and IPL’s second-fastest centurion, managed only 17 runs.

💪 Team Effort With the Bat
- Kanishk Chauhan: 79 off 67 balls
- Rahul Kumar: 73 off 60 balls
- R.S. Ambrish: 72 off 47 balls
Their collective effort ensured England were staring at a mountain — and the bowlers made sure they never climbed it.
🔥 Bowling Brilliance
India’s bowlers backed up the batting blitz with an all-round performance:
- Deepesh Devendran: 3 wickets
- Naman Pushpak & Vihaan Malhotra: 2 wickets each
The English side crumbled under scoreboard pressure, handing India a dominant series opener.
🇮🇳 A Rising Star From Small-Town Gujarat
From the dusty nets of Gandhidham to the lush grounds of England, Harvansh’s journey is nothing short of inspirational. With raw talent, relentless training, and a family’s unwavering belief, the young batter has announced himself on the international stage — not just as a standout performer, but as a story that embodies Indian cricket’s rising grassroots strength.
