April 28: Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the 14-year-old prodigy who redefined the standards of T20 cricket with his stunning record-breaking knock, credits his remarkable success to the unwavering support of his parents.
In a breathtaking display of power-hitting, Suryavanshi guided Rajasthan Royals to a dominant win over Gujarat Titans in their pursuit of a daunting 210-run target in the IPL 2025. His 35-ball century—the fastest-ever by an Indian in IPL history—left the crowd in awe and made him the talk of the cricketing world.
While the fireworks in the ‘Pink City’ were dazzling, it was Suryavanshi’s heartfelt acknowledgment of his parents’ sacrifices that added a personal touch to his sensational rise. The teenager explained how his parents had made significant efforts to support his cricketing dreams, which have now come to fruition.
“My mother used to wake up early because I had to go to practice, and she used to prepare food for me. She would sleep for three hours. My father left his work for me, and my big brother is handling it now. We were struggling. My father has backed me and said I would be able to achieve it. Whatever result is visible today, and the success I have achieved, is due to my parents,” said Suryavanshi in a video posted by IPL on X.
The 14-year-old made his mark right from the start of Rajasthan’s chase. His first shot of the innings was a towering 90-meter six off Mohammed Siraj, setting the tone for what was to follow. What followed was a relentless display of destructive batting, as Suryavanshi plundered the Gujarat bowlers, including the likes of Rashid Khan, with ease. His record-breaking century came in just 35 balls, taking down the previous mark set by Yusuf Pathan in 2010.
By the time Suryavanshi reached his century, it was clear that the match had already slipped out of Gujarat’s hands. Despite his eventual dismissal for 101 off 38 balls—courtesy of a yorker from Prasidh Krishna—the damage was done. The Royals chased down the target with eight wickets to spare, securing an emphatic victory.
As he walked off to a standing ovation, Suryavanshi’s story became more than just a tale of raw talent; it was a reminder of the support, sacrifices, and love that can propel a young dreamer to greatness. His journey is just beginning, but with the backing of his parents, there’s no telling how far he will go.
