Virat Kohli Breaks Silence on Bengaluru Stampede

In his first public statement since the tragedy, Virat Kohli addressed the stampede that marred RCB’s IPL victory celebration. The superstar batsman shared his heartbreak and offered prayers for the families who lost their loved ones.

September 3, 2025: Virat Kohli, a famous player, has spoken out about the terrible stampede that killed 11 people during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL triumph celebration. He said that the disaster “will be part of our story now.” It happened almost three months ago.

Kohli talked about the event that happened outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4 in a comment that was posted on the team’s official Instagram account.

The message said, “Nothing in life really prepares you for a heartbreak like June 4th.” “What should have been the best time in our franchise’s history turned into something terrible.” I’ve been praying for the families of the people we lost and for the spectators who were hurt. Your loss is now a part of our tale. We shall move forward together with care, respect, and responsibility.

The emotional speech is Kohli’s first full comment since he posted a short reaction on social media hours after the event. His statements are part of the “RCB Cares” program, which is how the team just gave ₹25 lakh to each of the families of the 11 fatalities. After three months of not talking about it on social media, the franchise decided to give this support. Fans had mixed feelings about this decision.

The stampede, which happened when thousands of fans came together to celebrate RCB’s first IPL win, also led to a government investigation. The investigation revealed that the event took place without the right police permission and that the large numbers were too much for the security measures that were in place. The franchise has not yet apologized to the public for not planning ahead, but they did say that their new project is a “long-term commitment for meaningful action that begins by honouring their memory.”
