Virat Kohli Doppelganger Attends Ranji Trophy Match At Arun Jaitley Stadium
January 31, 2025: On the second day of the Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, excitement reached fever pitch as fans eagerly awaited the opportunity to watch cricket star Virat Kohli take the crease. Delhi resumed their innings at 41/1, with Kohli’s entrance to bat as the main attraction for the crowd.
Among the enthusiastic spectators was Anurag Singh, who had traveled all the way from Bihar just to see Kohli play live. “It has always been my dream to watch him play live, and now it’s finally happening. There is only one king—King Kohli! He will definitely score a century in the Champions Trophy,” he said, full of anticipation.
Abhishek Chauhan, another passionate supporter, had been at the stadium on the first day as well. He shared his hopes of seeing Kohli reach a century in this match. “If we get to see a century from him in this match, it would be incredible,” he said.
For Naveen Negi, this was an extra special occasion as it marked his first-ever live cricket match. Despite the crowd being too overwhelming on Day 1, he made sure to return for the second day. “This is my first time in a stadium, and I couldn’t have asked for a better occasion to witness Kohli bat,” he said, brimming with excitement.
The atmosphere in the stadium was electric, with fans eagerly hoping for a Delhi wicket to fall, giving them the chance to see their hero at the crease. Kohli’s presence in the domestic cricket circuit, even after a run of underwhelming performances, was enough to bring thousands of fans to the ground for this thrilling encounter.
In an unusual turn of events, during the match, a fan breached security and ran onto the field to meet Kohli. The fan managed to evade security and reached Kohli, touching his feet in an emotional display of admiration. Security swiftly intervened and escorted the intruder off the field. Kohli, however, requested the security personnel to treat the fan with kindness and avoid harsh treatment.
The day also saw over 15,000 fans pack the stadium, a rare sight for a domestic cricket match. With Delhi’s opening bowlers, Navdeep Saini and Siddhant Sharma, putting Railways in trouble at 21/3, the crowd was buzzing with anticipation, eagerly awaiting their chance to see Kohli step onto the field. The stadium was alive with excitement, and for many fans, this match would be a memory they would cherish forever.
