Watch: Khushdil Shah Clashes With Spectators After Pakistan’s Defeat Against New Zealand

April 5, 2025: Pakistan’s batting all-rounder Khushdil Shah found himself in the middle of a heated confrontation with a few fans after Pakistan’s series whitewash at the hands of New Zealand in the third and final ODI at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. Following Pakistan’s 43-run loss, some fans reportedly taunted the Pakistani players, particularly Khushdil, which led to a physical altercation.

Khushdil, who had been warming the benches for most of the series, became visibly upset and charged towards the fans after they crossed the barricade. Security quickly intervened and dragged him away before the situation escalated further. The altercation occurred after Pakistan’s defeat in the 42-overs-per-side match due to a wet outfield. In the game, Pakistan was bowled out for 221 in 40 overs, chasing a target of 265 set by New Zealand.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) swiftly issued a statement condemning the inappropriate remarks made by foreign spectators during the match. The PCB expressed their displeasure at the abuse directed at the players, emphasizing that such behavior is unacceptable.

Khushdil had a limited role in the ODI series, while he had featured in the T20I series, where he scored 32, 2, and 6 in the three matches he played. Despite the disappointing series for Pakistan, Khushdil is looking ahead to his next challenge in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025. He will be playing for Karachi Kings, under the captaincy of Australian cricketer David Warner. Khushdil will be in action for his new team when they face Multan Sultans at their home ground on April 12, 2025.

The incident at Mount Maunganui marks a turbulent moment for Khushdil, but the focus now shifts to his upcoming performances in the PSL, where he will look to make an impact with Karachi Kings in the high-profile tournament.
