January 27, 2025: The West Indies pulled off a remarkable victory in Multan, defeating Pakistan by 120 runs to level the series. Their win, based on brilliant spin bowling, marked their first victory on Pakistani soil since 1990. Jomel Warrican was the star of the day, taking a superb 5-wicket haul to finish the match with a total of 19 wickets in the series.

Pakistan, set a target of 244 in the fourth innings, could only manage a paltry 133 runs. The West Indies’ spinners, led by Warrican, were relentless, and after a brief partnership of 39 runs between Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha, the hosts’ batting crumbled. The day started with Kevin Sinclair removing Saud Shakeel early, and soon after, Warrican trapped nightwatchman Kashif Ali.

Despite Rizwan’s brave resistance, the West Indies’ spin attack was too much to handle. Warrican’s delivery to dismiss Agha was a turning point, and soon he accounted for Rizwan as well, sealing Pakistan’s fate. Gudakesh Motie and Warrican wrapped up the tail, with the latter taking the final wicket.

The West Indies, without the injured Kemar Roach, relied heavily on their spinners, who delivered in emphatic fashion. The victory was a perfect demonstration of spin mastery, and the celebrations were as loud as the West Indies’ dominant performance. This win not only leveled the series but also marked a momentous achievement for the visitors

Warrican’s outstanding performance, particularly his five wickets, was pivotal to this historical win. The West Indies will now look to build on this momentum as they head into the next match.
