WFI President Sanjay Singh Confirms Their Office Location

January 25, 2025: The ongoing controversy surrounding the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and its former president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh continues to unfold as the WFI navigates the aftermath of serious sexual harassment allegations made by top women wrestlers in India. While the WFI office is currently in Hari Nagar, New Delhi, president Sanjay Singh confirmed that they have secured a new location in Connaught Place, which they plan to move to on Basant Panchami, February 2, 2024.

The legal proceedings involving Brij Bhushan and Vinod Tomar have been a focal point, with charges of sexual harassment and outraging the modesty of women wrestlers being framed against Brij Bhushan by a Delhi court. This development has sparked a series of legal battles, including a deferral of a case related to a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) complaint filed by a minor wrestler, though the police have filed a cancellation report due to the retraction of her statement.

Brij Bhushan, who continues to hold a prominent position as a BJP leader, has responded to these developments by downplaying the significance of the office relocation and emphasizing his long-standing connection with the sport and the wrestling community. He also clarified that the WFI’s office location would be ultimately decided by the federation, despite the ongoing challenges surrounding his leadership.

The situation brings up many ethical and legal questions, particularly surrounding the impact of serious allegations on individuals in positions of power and the responsibility of organizations like WFI to handle such matters transparently. Additionally, the role of public figures and their influence on the sport’s governance continues to be under scrutiny.

The wrestling community and the general public will likely continue to watch how these legal and organizational issues are resolved, particularly in relation to the treatment of female athletes in the sport and the broader implications for governance in Indian sports.
