Wisden Names Nine Indians Among World’s Best Young Cricketers – Yashasvi Jaiswal Tops Global List

From Yashasvi Jaiswal’s meteoric rise to Sai Sudharsan’s IPL heroics, nine Indian stars have made it to Wisden’s Top 40 Young Players in the World, proving once again that India is the cradle of cricketing talent.

New Delhi, August 22: The young players in Indian cricket are creating waves all over the world, and the new award has only made them more famous. Wisden’s “Top 40 Young Players in the World” list includes nine Indian players, with Yashasvi Jaiswal taking the top slot.

Wisden Cricket Monthly put up this renowned list of players 23 and younger, looking at their present achievements and future potential in all formats.

Yashasvi Jaiswal: The Next Big Thing in Indian Batting

At the age of 23, Yashasvi Jaiswal is already the most important player on India’s Test team. Jaiswal has scored 2,209 runs in 24 Tests, with an average of 50.20. He has six hundreds and twelve fifties, which shows that he is much more mature and classy than his age.

What makes him stand out is how well he can adjust to different situations. He has centuries in both Australia and England, which shows that he can bat in any weather or environment. Jaiswal is seen as India’s future in all formats because senior opener Rohit Sharma is nearing the end of his career.

His strike rate of 164+ and a hundred against the West Indies in T20Is also show how explosive he is. With 2,166 runs for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, it’s not hard to see why Wisden named him the finest young cricketer in the world.

Sai Sudharsan: The Orange Cap Winner Who Shone in IPL 2025

Sai Sudharsan, who plays for the Gujarat Titans, is also in the top 10 (9th). He had a great season. The stylish left-handed batter scored 759 runs in 15 innings, with an average of 54.21 and a strike rate of 156.17, claiming the Orange Cap.

Sudharsan is a good all-format player because he stays cool and can adjust. He has previously played in all three formats for India. He had a good Test debut in England and has been consistent in white-ball games.

Other Young Indian Stars on Wisden’s List

There are also a few additional up-and-coming Indian cricketers on the Wisden list who are shaping the future:

Nitish Kumar Reddy (12th) was the IPL 2024 Emerging Player who impressed with the bat for SRH and did well in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Tilak Varma (14th) is a youthful powerhouse for the Mumbai Indians and a good No. 3 choice for India in T20Is.

Harshit Rana (21st) is a fast bowler who was a big part of KKR’s journey to the IPL title in 2024 and has already earned a name for himself in all formats for India.

Riyan Parag (27th) – A top-order hitter who has come back to life and had a great IPL 2024 with 573 runs at an average of 52.09.

Musheer Khan (31st) — The U19 World Cup 2024 star, a technically sound batter who has already scored three first-class hundreds.

Mayank Yadav (33rd) was India’s fast bowler who lit up IPL 2024 with his raw speed and accuracy before injuries ended his season early.

The World Mix

Jaiswal came in first, but the list also included a mix of future stars from around the world: Jayden Seales (WI) at No. 2, Jacob Bethell (ENG) at No. 3, Will O’Rourke (NZ) at No. 4, and Lhuan Dre-Pretorious (SA) at No. 5. The youthful stars from Afghanistan, Pakistan, England, South Africa, and even Zimbabwe were also named, showing that cricket has a bright future.

The Golden Generation of India Is Here

India has nine players at the top of Wisden’s rankings, which illustrates how deep the country’s skill pool is. This generation of Indian cricketers, from Jaiswal’s steadiness to Sudharsan’s grace to Mayank’s raw speed, has the ability to bring the sport into a new golden age.

It looks like the torch is about to be transferred as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja near the end of their great careers.
