Women’s Premier League 2025: Gujarat Giants Reveal Official Jersey

February 6, 2025: As the third season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) approaches, the Gujarat Giants are preparing for an exciting new chapter with their home debut at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. The team unveiled their official jersey in a press event held on Thursday in Ahmedabad, attended by Head Coach Michael Klinger, players Harleen Deol and Shabnam Shakil, and Adani Sportsline’s Chief Business Officer (CBO), Sanjay Adesara.

The WPL 2025 is set to begin on February 14 and will be played across various venues, including Vadodara, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Mumbai. During the press event, Klinger expressed his team’s ambitions for the upcoming season, aiming to secure the ultimate prize. He emphasized, “We are certainly here to compete really hard. We are looking forward to playing some really strong cricket and hopefully qualify for the finals. We are not shying away from it, that is going to be our aim this season. I feel we have got the team to do it.”

Klinger also shared that the team’s preparations were progressing well, with overseas players set to join the squad in the coming days. Reflecting on the progress made since last season, Klinger was particularly proud that six players from the Gujarat Giants were now part of the A team, with some of them playing in the senior team for the first time, adding valuable experience and exposure.

India all-rounder Harleen Deol, who missed last season due to injury, was equally excited about returning to action, especially in Vadodara, where she scored her maiden century. “I missed the last season because of an injury, so I am even more keen to play this edition,” said Deol. “I have a lovely memory of scoring my maiden ton in Vadodara, but in cricket, you have to start from zero every day. So, I am very excited to be playing there for this tournament, and I am looking forward to it.”

Shabnam Shakil, who recently helped India win the U19 Women’s World Cup for the second consecutive time, also shared how being part of the Gujarat Giants has helped her develop as a player. She mentioned, “The Gujarat Giants and the WPL gave me a platform to have a lot of experience and exposure to express myself.”

Sanjay Adesara, CBO of Adani Sportsline, conveyed the team’s expectations for the season, saying, “The expectation is straight and simple—Gujarat Giants will try and give the best and give a great cricket experience to our fans out there, not only in Gujarat but across the country and across the world.”

The excitement is building as the Gujarat Giants will take on the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the WPL 2025 opener on February 14, 2025, at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara.
