February 19, 2025: Former India captain Mithali Raj praised Mumbai Indians’ clinical performance after their dominant five-wicket victory over Gujarat Giants in the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 season.

Mumbai Indians, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, maintained their perfect record against Gujarat Giants, winning all five of their encounters. The victory on Tuesday at Kotambi Stadium saw Mumbai chase down a target of 121 with composure, finishing the chase in just over 16 overs.

Speaking on JioHotstar, Mithali Raj highlighted Mumbai’s strong start after winning the toss. She praised the team’s disciplined bowling attack, which consistently took crucial wickets, particularly dismissing Gujarat’s overseas players. The Giants were restricted to a modest total of 121, making it easier for Mumbai to complete the chase efficiently.

Raj further emphasized the importance of Mumbai’s collective effort, pointing out that while players like Hayley Matthews and Amelia Kerr didn’t make big scores, they provided solid starts. She also noted that as the tournament progresses, Mumbai’s batting unit would likely hit its stride, building on the contributions of in-form batters.
