February 15, 2025: Former India cricketer Mithali Raj has praised Ellyse Perry for her remarkable resilience and leadership in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) six-wicket win over Gujarat Giants (GG) in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). Perry, who is recovering from a hip injury, impressed with a half-century and maintained a solid strike rate despite not being at full fitness.
Speaking on JioHotstar, Raj highlighted Perry’s dedication, noting that she refrained from bowling due to her injury but still managed to play a key role in RCB’s victory. “Ellyse Perry’s commitment is truly commendable. She’s coming back from an injury and isn’t at full fitness—she didn’t bowl today due to a hip injury and was struggling with her body. Despite that, she maintained a solid strike rate,” said Raj.

Additionally, Raj praised Perry for her mentorship of Raghvi Bist, a debutant in the WPL. Perry’s guidance helped stabilize the innings after early dismissals of Smriti Mandhana and Danni Wyatt, underscoring her leadership qualities. “Having the mentorship of someone like Perry is invaluable, and their partnership was crucial in stabilizing RCB’s innings,” Raj concluded.
