WPL 2025: Shafali Verma Reflects On Her Match-Winning Knock In Delhi Capitals’ Dominant Win

March 2, 2025: Shafali Verma’s match-winning performance against Royal Challengers Bengaluru was a crucial moment in the Women’s Premier League 2025. Her 80 not out off 43 balls guided Delhi Capitals Women into the playoffs with a dominant nine-wicket victory.

In her post-match comments, Verma shared her confidence in staying longer at the crease. She explained that even after playing consecutive matches, she treated every innings as a fresh start, crediting the bowlers for their great performance in restricting RCB to 147/5. She noted how early assistance from the pitch gave way to a more confident approach once she and Jess Jonassen settled in.

The partnership with Jonassen, who scored an unbeaten 61 off 38 balls, was key. Verma emphasized the importance of their communication and mutual belief, which helped them build a strong, successful partnership. The left-right batting combination was also highlighted as a challenge for the opposition.

Looking ahead, Delhi Capitals will face Gujarat Giants in their final league stage match on March 7 at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
