WPL 2025: UP Warriorz Sign Georgia Voll As Replacement For Chamari Athapaththu
February 27, 2025: UP Warriorz (UPW) have announced Georgia Voll as the replacement for Chamari Athapaththu for the remainder of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, according to a WPL media release.
Voll, a promising 21-year-old Australian top-order batter, has made an impressive mark in international cricket. She scored a century in only her second ODI and has played three T20Is, three ODIs, and one Test for Australia. Her form has been exceptional, and she will join UP Warriorz for INR 30 Lakh.
The Australian cricketer has been part of the 2024-25 Women’s Big Bash League season, where she represented Sydney Thunder, scoring 330 runs at a strike rate of 144, making her the second-highest run-scorer for the team.
Voll’s addition comes after Athapaththu, who will resume her national duties with Sri Lanka, preparing for a series against New Zealand Women, which includes three ODIs and T20Is.
UP Warriorz currently sit fourth in the WPL 2025 points table with two wins and four points from five matches. Their next match is against Gujarat Giants on March 3 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, marking the first game at this venue in the 2025 edition of the tournament.
