Following their dramatic series-leveling win, India has climbed to the third spot in the WTC standings, while Australia and Sri Lanka hold the top two positions in the race for the 2027 final.
August 4, 2025: In a thrilling end to the five-match series, India beat England by six runs in the fifth and final Test at The Oval. The win was made possible by a great bowling effort from pacer Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna. India’s bowlers made sure that England fell short of their goal of 374 runs. England was bowled out for 367 runs after needing just 35 runs to win on the last day.
Siraj was the star of the morning session, capturing three important wickets to finish with five wickets for 104 runs in the innings. With Krishna’s help, who ended with 4 for 126, the Indian team stayed calm and tied the series at 2-2, keeping the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
The win also has big effects on the World Test Championship (WTC) points table 2025–27. India has moved up to third place with 28 points and a PCT of 46.66%. They are in third place, behind Australia (100% PCT) and Sri Lanka (66.67% PCT).

India’s next Test match will be at home, as they will play the West Indies in a two-match series in October, with games in Ahmedabad and Delhi. In November, there will be another home series against South Africa, with games in Kolkata and Guwahati.
