In a moment that nearly overshadowed the tournament bouts, WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg made an unannounced return to RAW, confronting Gunther in the ring. Citing past disrespect toward his family, the 60-year-old legend challenged the reigning champion to a match at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta on July 12. If accepted, this would mark Goldberg’s first WWE match in over three years, adding a historic layer to the summer showdown.
“Gunther crossed a line with my family. Now I’m crossing back into that ring,” Goldberg declared to a roaring crowd.
Returning to the ring after a brief hiatus, Asuka claimed victory in a fierce four-way quarterfinal clash against Ivy Nile, Raquel Rodriguez, and Stephanie Vaquer. Asuka capitalized on interference from Rhea Ripley to land a brutal Hip Attack, pinning Rodriguez and booking her ticket to the semifinals. The match marked a strong return for Asuka, showcasing her dominance on the women’s roster.
In a chaotic men’s four-way quarterfinal featuring Bronson Reed, Rusev, and Sheamus, it was Jey Uso who emerged victorious. Despite outside interference from Bron Breakker, Sami Zayn, and LA Knight, Jey delivered back-to-back Uso Splashes to secure the win. He now advances to face Cody Rhodes in the semifinal, who himself defeated Shinsuke Nakamura, Andrade, and Damian Priest in an earlier round.
The night also brought concern for fans of Liv Morgan, who suffered an apparent arm and shoulder injury during her bout with Kairi Sane. After landing awkwardly from a takedown, the match was halted, and Morgan was escorted backstage by medical personnel. Kairi Sane was declared the winner, and WWE has yet to issue an official update on Morgan’s condition.
