Yashasvi Jaiswal Requests MCA to Cancel NOC, Wants to Continue With Mumbai

May 9, 2025: In a surprising change of heart, India’s young cricket sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal has decided to continue playing for Mumbai, two months after obtaining a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to transfer to Goa. The 23-year-old batter has now formally requested the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to cancel the NOC, stating that his earlier plan to relocate to Goa with his family has been shelved.

According to The Indian Express, Jaiswal sent an email to the MCA expressing his renewed commitment to Mumbai cricket. “I had some family plans in shifting to Goa, which for now has been curtailed,” Jaiswal wrote. “So I sincerely request MCA to allow me to play for Mumbai this season! I have not submitted the NOC to BCCI nor to the Goa Cricket Association,” he added.

Jaiswal’s original transfer had surprised the MCA, but they issued the NOC promptly when he first requested it. The move to Goa was seen as a significant shift, especially with Goa recently qualifying for the knockout stages of domestic cricket competitions. It was also reported that Goa had offered Jaiswal a leadership role—a tempting prospect for any young cricketer looking to grow.

Had the move materialized, Jaiswal would have followed in the footsteps of other Mumbai-born cricketers such as Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad, who have also moved to Goa seeking more playing opportunities and responsibility.

While the MCA has yet to take a final call on accepting Jaiswal’s request to withdraw the NOC, sources suggest the association may lean toward retaining the top-order batter, who remains a key asset for the team.

Jaiswal, who hails from Suriyawan in Uttar Pradesh, moved to Mumbai at the age of 11 to pursue his cricketing dreams. His rise through the ranks has been nothing short of inspirational, culminating in success with the Indian national team and in the IPL with Rajasthan Royals.

With the upcoming domestic season approaching, fans and cricket observers will be watching closely to see where Jaiswal ultimately pads up.
