Actor Taapsee Pannu, known for her powerful performances in films like Haseen Dillruba and Dunki, recently opened up about her journey in Bollywood, her private wedding to former Danish badminton star Mathias Boe, and her experience at the Paris Olympics. In an exclusive interview with ANI, Taapsee spoke candidly about her personal and professional life, shedding light on why she believes in maintaining a clear boundary between the two.
Taapsee, who has always been fiercely private about her personal life, recently tied the knot with Mathias Boe in a low-key ceremony in Udaipur. The wedding, held in March, was a blend of Sikh and Christian traditions, reflecting the couple’s diverse backgrounds. Despite the speculation and curiosity surrounding the event, Taapsee and Mathias chose to keep their nuptials private, inviting only close friends and family.
“Actually, I’m still hesitant in certain ways. I don’t like to milk a headline out of it,” Taapsee explained. She recalled how her one-page interview about her work was overshadowed by a headline about whom she was dating. “I’ve worked really hard to be where I am, to earn the name that I have. It cannot be overtaken by anybody else who is not really responsible for that,” she added.
The actress also discussed the challenges of maintaining privacy in the public eye. Despite their best efforts, footage from the wedding surfaced online just a few days after the event. Taapsee, however, remains firm in her decision to keep her personal life separate from her professional achievements. “You will be thinking so much before releasing those pictures because you know you’re putting your personal life out for butchering almost. And I was fully right,” she said, reflecting on the comments she received about the leaked videos.
Beyond her personal life, Taapsee has always had a passion for sports. She recently attended the Paris Olympics, where Mathias Boe was coaching India’s leading badminton pair, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy. The experience was both personal and professional for her, as she wanted to witness the Olympic atmosphere firsthand, especially since Mathias had announced his retirement from coaching after the Paris Olympics.
“This might be the last Olympics that Mathias is a part of. So, that’s why I was like, okay, I could never go and see him play because I didn’t want to. Because it was very stressful to see him play live,” Taapsee shared. Despite the sweltering heat in Paris, the actress cherished the opportunity to connect with the athletes and experience the spirit of the Olympics.
Taapsee’s journey in Bollywood has been marked by hard work and determination. From her debut in the Tamil film Aadukalam to her breakthrough role in Baby and subsequent success in films like Pink and Thappad, Taapsee has carved a niche for herself in the industry. Her decision to keep her personal life private, while focusing on her craft, underscores her commitment to her profession.
As Taapsee continues to take on challenging roles and push the boundaries of traditional cinema, her story serves as an inspiration to many. Whether it’s her work in films, her dedication to sports, or her ability to maintain privacy in a public career, Taapsee Pannu remains a force to be reckoned with in the world of entertainment.
