A male devotee died after experiencing breathing difficulties during the Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri on Wednesday as heavy crowding created panic-like conditions. Officials clarified that there was no stampede, stating that the devotee died due to suffocation caused by a sudden surge in the crowd.
A 32-year-old daily wage labourer, identified as Sushant Sahu, died after allegedly being subjected to custodial torture in Odisha's Ganjam district. Sahu, a resident of Subalaya village under Kabisuryanagar police station limits, had been taken into custody on May 25.
