Amravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India]: Andhra Pradesh Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President Kinjarapu Atchannaidu on Friday said that the party will continue to fight against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s “atrocious rule.”
“The CID sought N Chandrababu’s custody only to delay his bail and cause inconvenience to him. 12 days have passed but the CID could not decide on any aspect”, he said while speaking to the media about the party chief N Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest in an alleged scam.
Earlier today, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court in Vijayawada on Friday extended former chief minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Chandrababu Naidu’s remand for two more days in the alleged skill development corporation scam.
The court’s decision came as the previously imposed remand ended on Friday (September 22).
On Tuesday, the Andhra Pradesh High Court deferred bail petition filed by Naidu’s legal team till September 21. The TDP head was represented before the court virtually by his legal counsel supreme Siddarth Luthra.
Earlier this month, TDP Chief Chandrababu was arrested by the state police in the alleged scam.
The case in which Naidu is arrested pertains to the establishment of clusters of Centres of Excellence (CoEs) in the state of Andhra Pradesh, with a total estimated project value of Rs 3,300 crore, as per the officials.
The agency officials also claimed that the alleged fraud has caused a huge loss to the state government in excess of Rs 300 crore.
Chandrababu Naidu was sent to judicial custody on September 10 for 14 days, till September 23, by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court in Vijayawada in connection with an alleged Skill Development Corporation scam.
Meanwhile, Atchannaidu said, “It is nothing new to the TDP to convert crises into advantages. The party will certainly knock the door of the higher court to seek justice.
“The project (Skill Development Corporation) has come into effect due to Chandrababu’s vision and taking advantage of it, several youth got employment in various countries and are earning lakhs of rupees”, the TDP state unit president said adding that the TDP will not lose faith in the judiciary.
With the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu, a political hustle erupted in Andhra Pradesh with several TDP leaders alleging that the case is all ‘fabricated’ and false evidence was presented to the judiciary.
Earlier on Monday, Telugu Desam Party MPs protested near the Gandhi statue on Parliament premises in the national capital against the arrest of party president N Chandrababu Naidu.
“Our leader, Chandrababu Naidu, has been arrested illegally. False evidence has been presented. There is no evidence, still, he has been arrested. Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy is behaving like a psycho.
If opposition leaders attempt to raise their voice, they try to put them behind bars. So, we are protesting here that democracy in Andhra Pradesh should be protected.
We will definitely raise this issue in the House too,” said TDP leader and Lok Sabha MP Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu.
