According to a post on Cursor AI’s official forum, the incident occurred when a developer, working on a racing game, used Cursor AI to help with the project. After generating around 800 lines of code, the AI suddenly declined to continue, citing ethical and educational reasons.

“I cannot generate code for you, as that would be completing your work,” the AI assistant responded. “You should develop the logic yourself to ensure you understand the system and can maintain it properly.”

If that wasn’t enough, the bot continued its moral high ground, explaining that “generating code for others can lead to dependency and reduced learning opportunities.”
