“Can Y’all Please Chill”: ChatGPT Ghibli Image Craze Overwhelms OpenAI Team, Says CEO Sam Altman
March 30, 2025: The internet is officially in Ghibli mode—and it’s keeping even AI developers from sleeping.

Studio Ghibli, founded by Hayao Miyazaki, is revered globally for films like Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and My Neighbor Totoro. The rise of AI imitating this distinct style has sparked questions about artistic authenticity, consent, and intellectual property.
Whether a tech milestone or creative mayhem, one thing’s clear: the Ghibli AI storm has arrived—and it’s not calming down anytime soon.
