Former Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg Accused of Sexual Misconduct and Pressuring to Share Bed in Assistant’s Tell-All Memoir

Ex-employee Sarah Wynn-Williams claims Sandberg pressured her to share a bed on a private jet and spent $13,000 on lingerie for both of them. Meta denies allegations.

March 11, 2025: Former Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg has been accused of inappropriate behavior towards her assistant, Sarah Wynn-Williams, in a new memoir titled Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism.

According to the New York Times‘ review of the book, Wynn-Williams alleged that Sandberg invited her to “come to bed” on a private jet and spent $13,000 on lingerie for both of them during a work trip to Europe.

The former Facebook employee, who worked at the company for six years before resigning in 2017, also claimed that Sandberg grew angry when she declined to share the only bed on the plane during their return journey.

📌 Meta’s Response

A Meta representative dismissed the claims, calling them a mix of outdated reports and false accusations. The company further alleged that Wynn-Williams was fired eight years ago for poor performance and toxic behavior.

Additionally, an internal inquiry into her previous harassment claims was conducted at the time, ruling them “misleading and unfounded.”

📌 Other Revelations in the Book

Wynn-Williams also criticized Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, portraying him as someone who transitioned from a tech-obsessed coder to a politically driven executive. She compared both Zuckerberg and Sandberg to the “careless people” from The Great Gatsby—individuals who create chaos and leave others to suffer the consequences.
